An Attitude is a beautiful figure skating move that comes right from ballet. The move can make a figure skater look like a ballerina, so most little girls like doing the move. Attitudes are also easy to do. Attitudes are usually done by female figure skaters, but some men do perform the move.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: An Attitude is an easy ice skating move that can be mastered in five to ten minutes.

Here's How:

  1. Start by doing a forward extended one-foot glide.

  2. Bend the free leg slightly.

  3. Raise the free leg and hip.

  4. Turn the free hip out.

  5. Add an arm movement.

Tips:

  1. Keep the head up.

  2. Make sure that the hips and shoulders are lined up and are pointed straight ahead.

  3. Ballet training will help a figure skater do a good Attitude on the ice.

  4. Don't allow the free leg's knee to turn in or touch the skating leg.

  5. Arms movements compliment an Attitude. A popular way to use the arms is to hold one arm slighly curved above the head and to hold the other arm out to the side.

What You Need:

  • Before doing an Attitude a skater should be able to do a strong one foot glide.
